Background Checks

Public Background Check: Driver's License & $30
Come in Monday-Friday with the items below to receive a background check for you job or volunteer work:
  • Georgia Driver License/ Valid Georgia ID

Fingerprints: $35 without a fingerprint card. $30 if you have your own card

Firefighters & Law Enforcement: $55, includes fingerprints with Federal and Georgia Criminal background information.

For Driver History, you have to go to Department of Driver Services(DDS) in Milledgeville or Greensboro.

Community Programs

Shop with a Cop:
Every year during the Christmas season, the Eatonton police department organizes a program to assist families in need. Six children are chosen through the assistance of the Putnam county school system and brought to Walmart where, with the help of a police officer, they can fill a shopping cart full of toys they would like for Christmas.

Honor Guard:
Perform ceremonial events for the community.
Drug Take Back Initiative:
Eatonton Police Department teams up with Drug Enforcement Agency to collect unused and unwanted prescription drugs twice a year. The Eatonton Police Department turns all collected drugs over to the Drug Enforcement Agency. 

Pay Citation Fine

You will need your citation number in order to get your fine payment amount. If you do not pay it before your court date, you must appear in court.

Other ways to pay fine:
  • Pay with cash before the court date at the police department.
  • Mail money order with your name and citation information to the following address: P.O. Box 3820, Eatonton, GA 31024
  • Bring the fine amount to court.
The following MUST APPEAR in court: DUIs, Driving Without License, Suspended License, and Possession with Marijuana. If you are under the age of 21, you must appear for speeding tickets for 24 mph or over.

Court Dates:
The Eatonton Police Department Municipal Court is held on the dates below at 9 a.m at the Putnam County Courthouse.

Honor Guard

​​Honor Guard:
The Eatonton Police Department Honor Guard's primary purpose is to pay  tribute and provide funeral honors to fallen law enforcement officers, part time, retired, and dispatchers essentially serving as a ceremonial unit represent the department and show respect to the families of officer/dispatchers who have died in the line of duty or died while working for the department they also often participate in community events to maintain a positive public image of the Eatonton Police Department.
 
Funeral Detail:
Attend and perform ceremonial duties at fallen law enforcement, part time, and dispatchers including the folding of the flag and having the police chief or his designee to present it to a designated family member.
Ceremonial Role:
They perform special duties at funerals, including casket watch, flag presentation, color guard, escorting the families at a funeral/memorial service, and procession formations for a funeral detail. The color guard presents the national flag at community gatherings, swearing-in ceremonies.

 High Standards:
Members are usually chosen based on voluntary, conduct, appearance and a dedication to the profession. High motivation is a plus to want to be a part of such an elite unit.
